I need great game ideas for a kindergarten Halloween party. It is a large class. He has vetoed a pinata and I have vetoed carving pumpkins as I can’t afford to buy 30 or so pumpkins and also what a mess to clean up.

John McCain sponsored a bill that would take 79 percent of jobs from the poorest people in our nation, those of eastern Ky.  In this impoverished area of the nation coal is the main source of income and the driving force of the economy.McCain’s energy bill would eliminate 79 percent  of all coal mining jobs.

Is this how McCain would deal with our energy by eliminating a source of domestic fuel and relying more heavily on foreign oil? Is this how he would deal with the economic crisis, by stealing food from the mouths of the nation’s poorest inhabitants?

Thankfully the bill was not passed, but this should be seen as a clear map to where John McCain’s presidency will lead our nation. If you support the robbing of poor Americans to feed the rich foreign oil tycoons then McCain is the man for you. As for me and mine we will support the candidate who will leave food on our table. 

Today I went to another town to do some shopping that most unfortunately can not be done in Pikeville which has only one small privately owned bookstore.

The bookstore I visited has been a favorite haunt of mine for years, carrying rare books which are hard to find other places. Even more appealing to me, they have an entire section devoted to the paranormal happenings in eastern KY and a large religious section which I simply adore. I very much enjoyed hunting through the many books, all of which I’d have loved to bought if only rich, to find the two which I finally decided upon. Pleased with my choices and ready to begin reading I made my way to the cashier to hand over my $30.

 Suddenly I was confronted by something completely unexpected, a John McCain and Sarah Palin sign sitting right next to the register. I’m sure the look of disgust covered my face immediately. I laid the books down and said never mind to the cashier/owner and turning at the door I told him he should remove the sign if he wanted anyone to buy from him. He neither laughed , argued, nor agreed but looked at me straight faced and said nothing.

I find it appalling (not to mention stupid) that any business would so openly endorse either candidate.Had it been an Obama sign it would have been offensive too. (only slightly less winks) Surely, they know they will lose and offend at least some of their customers no matter which candidate’s sign is sitting next to their register. If they wish to support a candidate would it not be wiser to do so privately?

 I find it even more appalling that this was done in a bookstore. Bookstores main clientele are avid readers and FREE THINKERS who come there to find unbiased knowledge that will lead them to their own decisions and opinions. Bookstores are not places where one wishes to have a political agenda of another preached to them.

What do you think? Should public businesses openly endorse a candidate? Me? I’m boycotting Readmore bookstores! (although with mourning for the loss of my favorite haunt)

I feel the need to preach today. Indulge or not. That is your choice but I feel I must say what needs to be said and this after all is Rebeccaville.

I see a great many people both here and in real time who claim to be Christians yet follow the teachings of others which clearly are not in compliance with God’s word. For example, some tend to be under the impression that Jesus has returned to the Earth. Yet God clearly tells us that Jesus will not return until AFTER the tribulation.

If you are a true Christian (meaning not that you go to church on Sunday, were baptized, yadda yadda but that you have began a real RELATIONSHIP with God) then you have the power of the living God in you. Jesus has told us that there are parts of the Bible that non believers will not understand.   God said that which has been spoken in closets will be shouted from the roof tops.
